Origin/meaning
Neuravensberg was an important possession of the Sankt Gallen Abbey and received city rights around 1250. The abbot of the abbey, however, retracted the city rights in 1266. Thus there are no seals of the town until the 18th century, when the local seal showed a castle (Burg). The above arms were granted in 1962 and combine the castle with the bear of Sankt Gallen.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
