Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 15, 1976.
The arms refer to the history of the area. Already in 902 a large royal estate existed in the area, this is symbolised by the royal eagle. In the 12th century the area became a possesion of the Wadgassen abbey in Lorraine, which is symbolised by the cross for the abbey and the french fleur-de-lys for Lorraine.
The previous arms were granted on July 25, 1968.
The two crosiers refer to the Abbey, the base refers to the longtime importance of the glass and crystal factory of Villeroy and Boch in the village. Literature:
