Origin/meaning

Neubrunn was founded by the Counts of Wertheim, but became a possession of the Teutonic Order in the 13th century. In 1323 Neubrunn received city rights from King Ludwig of Bayern and was heavily fortified. From 1655 until 1802 the city was a possession of the Bishops of Würzburg.

The arms were granted on September 28, 1964 and reflect the history of the town, showing a city wall with two small shields, the black cross of the Teutonic Order and the arms of the State of Würzburg.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
