Wappen von Lam

Official blazon

In Rot auf einem mit silbernem Wellenbalken belegten grünen Dreiberg eine zweitürmige Kirche in Vorderansicht; dahinter schräg gekreuzt ein goldener Spaten und ein goldener Schlägel.

Origin/meaning

The village was founded around 1279 and was a possession of the Abbey in Rott until 1697, when it was bought by King Max Emmanuel of Bavaria. Since 1522 it was a free city.

The arms were adopted on February 13, 1957 and show a church, taken from the arms of the Rott Abbey. The miner's tools symbolise the mining in the are, which started the 15th century, and which has been of great importance for the city. The three mountains in the base symbolise the geographical situation; the village is built on the high grounds between the Regen and Lambach rivers.
