German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

GELTING

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Schleswig-Flensburg (until 1974 Schleswig)
Amt : Amt Geltinger Bucht (until 2008 Amt Gelting)

Wappen von Gelting

Official blason:'
In Blau unter einer strahlenden goldenen Halbsonne ein goldener Pflug mit silbernem Pflugeisen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 6, 1937.

The plough in the arms has a double meaning; it is taken from the arms of the Lords von Hobe-Gelting(en) who lived in the Gelting Castle, but it is also a symbol for the agricultural character of the municipality at the time. The family used the plough in silver, to distinguish the arms, the plough in the municipal arms was made gold.

The sun was simply added to distinguish the arms from other arms with a plough. The colours are those of the Schleswig County.
