MARL

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Diepholz
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Altes Amt Lemförde

Wappen von Marl (Dümmer)
Official blazon
German

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on September 26, 1988.

The mountain in the base symbolises the relatively high position of Marl in the area. The blue lion is taken from the arms of the Lords von Gladebeck, who had several possessions in the area in the 15th-17th century. The four linden leaves symbolise the old court, of Thie (Thing), in the village, which dates from early medieval times. The main charge is a belltower, which was used to warn the villagers of fire. The belltower is renewed, but still exists in the village.
