Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ?
The lion is taken from the arms of Dudeldorf, indicating the long historical ties to the city of Dudeldorf. The base shows a bear with a travel pack, the symbol of St. Maximin of Trier, the local patron saint. According to a hagiography from 850 on a trip to Rome a bear ate the horse of the bishop. He then ordered the bear to replace the horse and carry his luggage all the way to Rome.
The thorny bar is taken from the arms of the Lords of Lontzen, who ruled the village for a long time on behalf of the Counts of Manderschied.
