Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1927.

The deer (hirsch) is a canting element (the name means deer-meadow). The crosier refers to the powerful Hirsau Abbey, around which the village developed. The arms of deer and crosier were also used by the local council since the dissolution of the Abbey in 1535 (the Abbey was destroyed in 1692).
