Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 19, 1978.
The arms are based on the previous arms from 1972. The checquered bar is taken as a symbol of the local Cistercian Abbey, to which the village historically belonged. The crosier also symbolises the abbey, as well as the dependency to the State of Mainz for some of the villages in the municipality.
The Iron Hand is a symbol for Götz von Berllichen, who is buried in the municipality.
