Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 28, 1989.

The arms symbolise the Krinkberg hill in the municipality. it is a man-made hill, and an archaeological monument. In 1885 a sword and a large amount of coins was found. The coins come from different countries and show the trade with the Empire of Charlemagne (as shown in the coin labelled Carolus) and far-away cities such as Dorestad (as symbolised by the other coin, Dorestad is now Wijk bij Duurstede in the Netherlands). The sword symbolises the many arms found in the graves in the hill, dating from the 7th until the 9th century.
