Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ADELSHEIM
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Neckar-Odenwald Kreis (until 1973 Buchen)
Origin/meaning
Although the town was mentioned as a city in 1347, it only got city rights in 1374. The horn of an ibex was part of the arms of the Knights of Adelsheim. The city has always used the horn in its arms, although the shape of the horn has changed considerably through the years.
