Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1955.

The silver and red 'nettle-leaf' is the symbol of the County Schaumburg, to which the area historically belonged. The oak tree symbolises the old oak forests in the region, which were cleared in medieval times for the development of agriculture. The tree is a canting element for the cleaning of forests (Roden in German). The miner's tools symbolise the potash mining in the area.
