English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1950 and are based on the oldest seal of the city, dating from the 14th century. The arms show a city wall with towers and a small shield with the arms of the Lords (later Counts and Princes) of Hatzfeld. All later seals and images show the same composition, however the size and shape of the different elements has varied widely during the centuries. Only some smaller seals did not show the castle.
