Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 23, 1958.

The right half shows the local landmark, a cross on the Steinberg mountain. At the same time the cross refers to the State of Köln to which the aarea historically belonged. The left side shows tools used in the slate mining, which was historically important for the village.
