Official blazon

In Silber ein von Silber und Blau schräggerauteter Schild, auf dem ein grüner Nussbaum mit schwarzem Stamm und schwarzen Wurzeln steht.

Origin/meaning

The village of Nussloch was sold by the Lords of Lichtenau in 1259 to Count Ludwig II of the Pfalz. The village remained part of the Pfalz until 1802. The oldest known seal dates from the late 15th century and already shows the hazel (Nuss=nut) tree and the shield of the Wittelsbach family, Counts of the Pfalz. The composition remained the same, but many variations are known, with the shield in front of the tree, and with different colours.
