Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 29, 1987.

The urn in the chief refers to the urn found in 1823 in the area, and symbolises the long inhabitation of the area. The lower half is taken from the arms of the lords of the village of the family Metternich(-Winneburg-Beilstein), who had rights in the village from 1494-1796.
