German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

GOSHEIM

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Tuttlingen

Wappen von Gosheim

Official blazon

(de) In Rot ein silberner Pfahl, belegt mit einer roten Hand, die einen roten Schwurstab hält.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 8, 1957. Previously the town used since 1930 unofficial very complicated arms, which were not heraldically correct.

The arms are based on the arms of Austria, but these are now placed vertically, instead of horizontally. Gosheim belonged from 1351-1805 to the Austrian possessions in the South-West of present Germany. The meaning or origin for the hand and stick is not known.
