Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 11, 1974.

The hills and the beech leaf refer to the fact that a large part of the municipality is in the Steigerwald region, which is characterised by its densely forested hills. The grape refers to the importance of viticulture in the municipality.

The chief shows a typical type of ship (Schelch), used for sailing on the Main river. Knetzgau was know for building this type of ships and ship building was of great importance to the village in the 18th and 19th century.
