Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ??-??-1996.
The linden twig is taken from the arms of Riesa and represents the nature in the region, as well as the former Riesa district.
The black lion is taken from the arms of the Grossenhain district and is the lion of the State of Meissen, to which the whole region historically belonged.
The cogwheel represents the industry in the area, especially the metal, textile and machine industries.
