OVELGÖNNE
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Wesermarsch
Additions : 1972 Oldenbrok
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the old seal of Ovelgönne, that showed a castle and the trefoils of Oldenbrok. The castle is the local Ovelgönne castle, the trefoils also symbolise the agricultural character of the municipality. The castle was built in 1514 by the counts of Oldenburg who also had their main residence here for a short period. The castle was destroyed in 1677.
