REGEN (REG)
State : Bayern
Additions : 1972 Viechtach
Official blazon
(de) Unter Schildhaupt mit den bayerischen Rauten in Rot ein silberner Pfahl, darin eine bewurzelte grüne Fichte; vorne ein silbernes Kelchglas, hinten ein wachsender Zinnenturm.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 9, 1975.
The arms combine elements of the old arms of Regen and Viechtach districts.
The previous arms were granted on June 30, 1960.
The diamonds in the chief symbolise both the Counts of Bogen and their successors the Wittelsbach dynasty, as Dukes Kings of Bayern. The diamonds were already used by the Counts of Bogen, who ruled a large part of the district in the 13th century. The pine tree symbolises the Bayrischen Wald forest. The glas symbolises the glass industry in the area. The green and gold colours in the arms are derived from the arms of the Benedictine Abbey of Niederalteich, that owned several estates in the district.
