Selected collector's items from Germany:

HOHENPEISSENBERG

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Weilheim-Schongau (until 1973 Weilheim)
Additions : 1978 Ammerhöfe (partly)

Wappen von Hohenpeissenberg

Official blazon

(de) In Blau eine bewurzelte Buche, belegt mit einem silbernen Hammer und einem silbernen Bergmannsschlägel an goldenen Griffen in schräger Kreuzung.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 9, 1951.

The abeech tree is taken from the arms of the Rottenbuch Abbey, to which the village historically belonged. The Abbey founded an obervatory on the Hohen Peissenberg mountain, which, in 1780, was the largest astronomical observatories in the world.

The miner's tools refer to the coal mining in the village from 1837-1971. The colours are those of Bayern.
