Origin/meaning

Brühl received city rights in 1285 by the Bishop of Köln. The oldest seal dates from the early 14^th century and show the arms of the State of Köln, with St. Peter, holding two keys and a bible as supporter. The heads were added in 1605 and stand for the 7 members of the local council.
