DOHREN

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Emsland
Additions : 1963 Gross-Dohren, Klein-Dohren Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Herzlake

Wappen von Dohren (Emsland)

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 5, 1990.

The deer antler is a canting symbol for the Samtgemeinde Herzlake, to which the municipality belongs, the name Herzlake means Hirschdorf, or deer-village. The colours are derived from the State of Münster, to which the village belonged until 1803.
The division line symbolises the Welle river. The lower half shows a canting thorn bush (Dorn=thorn), which at the same time symbolises the former municipalities Gross- and Klein-Dohren. The green symbolises the agricultural character of the municipality.
