Origin/meaning
Leonberg was founded in 1249 by Count Ulrich of Württemberg. The oldest seal dates from the late 13th century and shows a lion (Leo) on a mountain (Berg), making the arms canting. Since the early 15th century the lion stands on the shield alone. The colours are the colours of Württemberg and are known since 1535.
