ALTRICH
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Bernkastel-Wittlich (until 1969 Wittlich)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Wittlich-Land
Official blazon
- (de) Schild Rot und Weiß gespalten, vorne ein weißes Andreaskreuz, hinten 2 (2:1) rote Kugeln. (Weiß = Silber).
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 19, 1971.
The saltire is a symbol for the church patron Saint Andrew shown in the old court seal, known since 1764. The other half shows the arms of the Knights von Altrich, which can be traced back to the 14th century.
The colors red and white indicate that it was part of the Archdiocese of Trier.
