TELTOW-FLÄMING (TF)

State : Brandenburg
Additions : 1993 Luckenwalde, Zossen

Wappen von Teltow-Fläming

Official blazon

  • (de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 21, 1996.

The eagle in the arms is taken from the arms of Brandenburg, as a large part of the district historically was part of Brandenburg, as is the whole present district.

The crosier represents the possessions of the many monasteries and the Archdiocese of Magdeburg in the area. The division of silver and red is also taken from the arms of the Archdiocese.

The chequered base is taken from the arms of the Von Torgow (Von Torgau) family, who ruled the area around Zossen until 1479. As this was part of the Southern part of the present district, it was placed in the base of the shield.
