Origin/meaning
The municipality never had arms prior to 1974. The above arms were designed in 1995 on request of the local historical society.
The area around the village historically was covered with moors and heath. The main type of agriculture was sheep herding, but also the heather was harvested and used for a number of purposes. This is symbolised by the black grouse, a common bird in the landscape at the time and the scythe for cutting the heather.
