Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 11, 2008.
The city was a possession of the Counts of Stolberg-Wernigerode. The deer is taken from the arms of the Counts of Stolberg, the towers and gate (city, Stadt) are canting. The composition already appeared on the seal of the city dating from 1531.
