Origin/meaning

Historically the area belonged to the Bishops of Chur from 937-1750. The village council received its first seal in 1650 from Balthasar von Schönberg, who was the governor for the bishops. The arms show an ibex, which is derived from the arms of the diocese and city of Chur (Switzerland). Ever since the municipality has used the ibex on its seals and arms. In 1929 the arms were officially granted in colours opposite to the colours of Chur.
