Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 13, 1965.
The bars are taken from the arms of the Duchy of Luxembourg, the cross is taken from the State of Trier, as the area historically belonged to both Luxemburg and Trier. The crown is the symbol for St. Gertrudis, the local patron saint.
