Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 17, 1939.
The wavy division line symbolises the Max-Clemens channel in the municipality, dug in 1729. The shuttle symbolises the textile industry, the three wheatears the agriculture. The colours are those of the former County Steinfurt.
