Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1912 and again on March 27, 1991.
The arms show the main (historical) activities in the town; mining and textile industry, symbolised by the miner's tools and the spindle. The crest shows two linden branches.
On July 5, 1949 the arms were changed, but the idea of showing the main industries remained. The upper half now showed the spindle and a partially built wall for the building and development of the city, and in the base the miner's tools and a cogwheel for industry.

In 1991 the city started to use again the historical arms.
