German In Gold auf grünem Dreiberg ein Apfelbaum mit schwarzem Stamm, grünen Blättern und roten Äpfeln.

Origin/meaning

Even though Obersasbach became a separate municipality in 1599, there are no seals known until the early 19th century. The oldest seal only shows the letters OS and not in a shield.

In September 1901 the council applied for new arms, and the State Archives proposed the above arms. The apple tree indicates the importance at the time of the horticulture in the area. The council at first regretted the fact that the tree was not clearly an apple tree, but finally approved the arms in January 1902.
