DAHLENBURG
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Lüneburg]]
Additions : 1974 Buendorf, Eimstorf, Ellringen, Gienau, Lemgrabe
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the oldest seal of the town, dating from around 1500. Later seals show the same composition, but the size and shape of the towers varied widely. The towers are a symbol for the city rights, which were granted in 1289 by Duke Otto of Braunschweig. The lion is the lion of the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. The origin of the roses is not known.
