KRONSGAARD

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Schleswig-Flensburg (until 1974 Schleswig)
Amt : Amt Geltinger Bucht (until 2008 Amt Gelting)

Wappen von Kronsgaard

Official blazon

In Blau eine goldene Krone über einem silbernen Kreuz, dessen Querholz in Nagelspitzen und dessen Langholz oben in einem Ring mit Öse und unten in einer Kugel endet.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 10, 2002.

The crown in the chief of the arms is a canting element, Kronsgaard means Crown's Court. The cross in the lower half symbolises an ancient local custom in the village of Insel in the municipality. When someone in the village dies, this cross is hand over from house to house in the village to announce the iccasion. It is therefore also known as the 'Totenkreuz' (Cross of the dead). The blue symbolises the Baltic Sea, which historically was of importance to the village for fishing, but now mainly for tourism.
