Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The first attempt by the local council to acquire a coat of arms dates from 1940, but no arms were granted during the war-time. The present arms are used by the council since 1946, but have not officially been granted. The arms show an ancient belt decoration. During the last two centuries many different objects, dating from 100 BC to 400 AD have been found in the moors near the village. The belt may symbolise the old solar symbol and thus Sunna, the queen of the sun.
