State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Kronach
Additions : Kleintettau, Langenau
German | Über von Silber und Schwarz geviertem Schildfuß gespalten von Rot und Silber; vorne eine silberne Henkelvase, hinten drei im Dreipass gestellte rote Schlüssel.
Origin/meaningThe arms were devised and granted on November 22, 1979. The arms are a combination of elements of the arms of the three former municipalities. The previous arms were granted on ??-??-1958. The arms are not based on historical seals or arms of the town. The downward point is taken from the arms of the Von Thüna family, Lords of Lauenstein from 1506-1622. The castle in Tettau was built in 1535 by Friedrich von Thüna. The lower wavy bar represents the Tettau river. The vase in the arms is a symbol for the glass and porcelain industry in the town, which has been of importance for many centuries.
