Official blazon
German In der oberen Schildhälfte einen nach rechts schreitenden goldenen, halben Löwen in Blau und in der unteren Schildhälfte ein blaues Gatter in Gold.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1959.

The arms show the lion of the Hinkema family, who built the local castle in the 14th century. In 1446 the castle became a possession of the local church.

The fence is canting (Haag = fence). The colours are those of the city of Norden.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes; Leiner, K. : Panorama Norden. Norden, 1972.
