WILLICH
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Viersen (until 1974 Kempen-Krefeld)
Additions : 1970 Anrath, Neersen, Schiefbahn
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 30, 1971.
The small cross in the middle of the arms represents the State of Köln, to which the city belonged. The chain around the cross represents the four former municipalities that are now tightly bound together.
The previous arms were granted in 1950.
The arms show three wheat ears, as a symbol for the importance of breweries in the local economical development. The wheel in the lower half is the symbol of the local patron saint, St. Catherine.
