State : Brandenburg
District (Kreis) : Märkisch-Oderland
Amt : Amt Neuhardenberg
Additions : 1998 Altfriedland, Wulkow; 2003 Quappendorf

Wappen von Neuhardenberg

Official blazon

  • (de) Halbgespalten und geteilt; Feld 1: in Silber ein silbern-bewehrter, rot-gezungter schwarzer Keilerkopf, Feld 2: in Rot ein silbernes Johanniterkreuz, Feld 3: in fünf Reihen schwarz-gold geschacht.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 8, 1997.

The arms are a combination of the arms of three rulers of the area. The boar's head is taken from the arms of the Counts, later Princes, Von Hardenberg 3418a.wsa.jpg, who acquired the village Quilitz in 1811 and named it Neuhardenberg.

The Maltese cross is the symbol of the Order of St. John, to which the village of Quilitz belonged until 1763. The lower half is taken from the arms of the Von Prittwitz family, which acquired Quilitz in 1763 until they sold it in 1811 2831a.wsa.jpg.
