Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 16, 1866.

The silver wavy bend in red is a canting symbol, as Roten-Bach, or red stream. The stars were explained in the official document as 'the happiness of the Bavarian State'. The colours are derived from the arms of the Fugger family, who owned the city for a long time.
