Origin/meaning
The arms have been used since 1855.
The oldest seal of the town showed since the 16th century a walking man, holding a stick or crosier. The new arms were designed after the granting of the city rights by the Princes of Schwarzburg, whose arms showed two savages as supporters.
The municipal stamp shown in 1892 |
Seal from around 1900 |
