Origin/meaning
The arms were designed in the 1950s and are based on elements from the older seals of the village. The bread-rings (Brezel) appeared already on the 16th and 17th century seals. They symbolise the importance of the different bakeries in the Modau valley since the 15th century. The quartered shield is derived from the arms of the State of Würzburg to which the village historically belonged. The vine leaves symbolise the viticulture in the area.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
