Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 13, 1983.

The arms are used since 1918 and combines the wheel of the State of Mainz, with the arms of Nassau-Saarbrücken. The village historically belonged to Mainz and Nassau-Saarbrücken.

In the late 19^th century Hupp showed as arms the composition derived from the old seals of the village, dating from the 16^th century. These seals showed an Abbot following a bear. This symbolises St. Maximinius, as the village originally was ruled by the St. Maximinius abbey in Trier.
