Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 7, 1994.
The first quarter refers to the former importance of the pottery industry in the area, of which only very few remain.
The water mill wheel refers to the mill in the Black Elster river in the municipality, a monument. It also symbolises historical and current industries and processing of wheat. The third quarter refers to the agricultural character of the region.
The fourth quarter refers to the lignite mining in the area.
