Origin/meaning

Adorf was founded as a city around 1290 by the Lords of Plauen and became a possession of the Counts of Meissen. The arms have been used since the 14^th century and show the lion of the Lords of Plauen.

The colours did not change, but still Hupp showed the arms with a red field (see image below).
