LENNEP
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Urban District (Kreisfreie Stadt) : Remscheid
Additions : 1906 Fünfzehnhöfe
Incorporated into : 1929 Remscheid
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, known since 1353. The seal showed the same composition as the above arms, with the exception that the seal only showed a gate, and not a wall. The wall was added in the 18th century. The small shield with the lion shows the arms of the Counts of Berg, who ruled the area at the time.
