HAWANGEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Unterallgäu
Official blazon
Geteilt von Gold und Schwarz, oben zwei schräg gekreuzte schwarze Palmenzweige, unten eine goldene Mitra mit aufgelegter Rosette.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 9, 1982.
The arms were designed in 1981 as no historical arms or seals of the village were known. The village was for many centuries a possession of the Ottobeuren Abbey, which is shown in the arms. The colours are those of the Abbey and the mitre in the lower half also symbolises the Abbey. The two palm leaves in the upper half are the symbol of St. Stephanus, patron saint of the local church.
