LANGQUAID

Wappen von Langquaid

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show the patron saint, St. James in a rather uncommon position. The arms were officially granted on March 22, 1486 by Duke Albrecht IV of Bayern, but are based on an older seal. The arms have never changed since 1486, although the shape of the head often differed. The two shells clearly indicate St. James, even though there has been some speculation whether the person was St. Rochus.
